Gorgeous Ginger

“It’s so funny how something as simple as a puppy can make even the hardest, toughened soldier melt upon a few kisses to the face.

From the Soldier:
I first met Ginger when she a little younger and had walked onto FOB. Somehow, she made it through the area where the undisciplined Polish trained drug and explosives dogs populate near the entry gates. Ginger clumsily stumbled into the compound where I live and has been kept here since her arrival. She was scared, hungry, and exhausted. We did not and still do not have any dog food, thus we get an extra plate from the Dining Facility when possible. Although Ginger DID NOT like pork (like most Afghans), she loves it now! We tried to get dog food for Ginger but it seems dog food is not really a choice at the bazaar.

Everyone visiting the compound just loves Ginger. She has really come out of her shell and plays most of the day. It’s been getting hotter here lately though, thus she finds cool places to rest in the shade during the day. We did have a set back whenswe received the first Indirect Fire of the year. Ginger cowered under the tent platform for three hours. It took alot of coaxing to get her out from under the platform and she is still a little gunshy with loud noises, especially outgoing or registration fires.

I am hoping to take Ginger home to America because she deserves a normal life for a dog. Afghanistan is a terrible place for some people to live, much less an innocent puppy. I had intended to find a home for a puppy once I returned from my deployment anyway, thus why not save an Afgan dog from eating trash and a life of creulty in the process? My job keeps me extremely busy, but others would come to the compound play with her. Unfortunately, mission has dictated for my friends/co-workers to travel to other FOBs and Ginger has been a bit lonely here lately. I have a home in Maryland and if I am able to bring Ginger to America, I will find a another puppy playmate for her. I work many hours in a non-deployed environment as well and I don’t want to leave Ginger alone for that long of a time during the hours of the day. She is the sweetest puppy and deserves a good life.

Georgeous Ginger you WILL be coming to the Land of the Free Because of the BRAVE!!!! Paw Salute to this soldier for loving Ginger!

While out on a patrol our MPâ??s came upon a group of children and young adults crowded around a small puppy that they were making sport of by throwing rocks and trash at her. A couple of our MPâ??s took pity on the poor little creature and offered a trade, three cans of Rip-it and a Hershey bar procured our new little pooch. The MPâ??s were able to sneak her back onto our little FOB where we promptly took to nursing her back to health. Rip-it became an instant family member to all of us, and we took turns hiding and feeding her to the best of our abilities. Over the past month and a half she has gone from a tail between her legs scared little puppy, to a happy, healthy, playful, crazy, lovable ball of fuzz. The MPâ??s have since left, and lucky for us were unable to take her with them. We are now far too attached to little Rip-it to leave her behind to the fates of Afghanistan. This is the reason for my letter to you. We need your help getting Rip-it home to Iowa with SFC W and his family of wayward dogs. SFC W and his wife have taken in numerous rescues but have suffered a recent loss to their family of four (and three) legged friends due to father time. Their unfortunate loss could be Rip-itâ??s gain with your help. Ripit~ You have some special soldiers caring for you and Puppy Rescue Mission is here to make this happen for you~ Pack your bags girl because your soldier is bringing you home to Iowa!!! Help us get this beauty to the Land of the Free, Because of the BRAVE! Paw Salute!!! Sometimes the silver lining in the cloud is greater than we can ever imagine. Neda obviously wanted her daddy to have double trouble so she delivered Sarah and Amira to him in Kabul. NOTE: The Smile on this new Daddy’s face. Dreams are like stars~You may never touch them, but if you follow them they will lead you to your destiny. Left, is Sarah….. Right, is Amira….. Sarah, is of Hebrew origin and means “princess”…… Amira, is of Arabic origin and means “princess”. As a girl’s name is pronounced ah-MEER-ah. Its my Yin and Yang twist,,,Good Karma,,,Good Stuff! So let me introduce: Sarah Deckelman and Amira Bella Deckelman.
